Installed in Spring 2014, a 4,700-square-foot raised deck now sits adjacent to the Brown Promenade under the century-old live oak trees. The deck provides a shady place where visitors can relax, eat, read and enjoy the various sights and sounds of the park. In keeping with the park’s mission, the deck is made from sustainable materials. It was constructed from eco-friendly Brazilian Ipe wood, a hardwood that is extremely durable and resistant to mold, weather, flames and pests and which can be found on other structures throughout the park. Guests can relax on the deck and utilize a number of tables and chairs gifted to the park by the Kinder Foundation.
