Families with Pride is back! Hosted by Council Member Abbie Kamin in partnership with the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, we invite you to join in the fun. This year, Council Member Kamin and the Chamber are teaming up with Discovery Green® for an even bigger and better celebration for Houston’s families.
This exciting family-friendly event is dedicated to LGBTQIA+ children, families, and allies as part of LGBTQIA+ History Month. Activities will include lively entertainment, children’s story time, food trucks, face painting, games, a History of Pride installation, interactive art projects, all that the Discovery Green® playgrounds and water installations have to offer, and much more! Plus, don’t miss the Proud Puppy Party showcasing Houston’s proudest four-legged babies!
We cannot wait to celebrate love, inclusivity, and joy together!

Sarofim Picnic Lawn
The Sarofim Picnic Lawn is a wide-open lawn space that is perfect for more than just a picnic. The Lawn is near the John P. McGovern Playground, the Mist Tree, and the Kinder Large Dog and the Harriet and Joe Foster Dog Runs, making it a perfect place for family get-togethers, such as reunions or birthday parties. The Lawn can also accommodate small private corporate events or client receptions. The Lawn has two permanent picnic tables, and borders the Andrea and Bill White Promenade.
