Jason Moran

Jason Moran is a highly acclaimed jazz pianist, composer and artist from Houston, TX. A graduate of Kinder High School for the Performing Arts, he is also an alumnus of the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Jaki Byard. Recent awards and fellowships include the MacArthur Foundation, US Artists, Doris Duke Foundation and Ford Foundation.  More at jasonmoran.com

Opener: The Stuart Adams Collective

Houston’s own Stuart Adams, a senior at Kinder HSPVA, formed the Collective with the intent of introducing young jazz musicians to the Houston jazz scene. Since playing their first shows in 2019, the Collective has focused on many genres, from Jazz to R&B and Hip-Hop. Through collaboration, Stuart and his band have put together a genre defying sound, taking inspiration from the likes of Miles Davis, Robert Glasper and Erykah Badu. The band can be found playing at The Gypsy Poet Midtown on Sundays, The Gypsy Poet Heights on Thursdays and The Montrose Marketplace on Saturdays.
