Summer of Soul: Bank of America’s Screen on the Green

In his acclaimed debut as a filmmaker, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson presents a powerful and transporting documentary—part music film, part historical record. The film is focused around the legendary 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival which celebrated African American music and culture and promoted Black pride and unity. The Summer of Soul shines a light on the importance of history to our well-being and stands as a testament to the healing power of music. (2021) PG-13 1h 58m
Grammy nominated Uncle Jumbo will kick off the evening with songs and dance-a longs that that focus on joy, connection, kindness and wellbeing.
The screening coincides with the Juneteenth Celebration on Avenida de las Americas.

Enjoy a family movie under the stars in the city’s coolest park. Bring a blanket or camping chairs and snacks or a picnic. Please leave alcohol and glass containers at home. Food, beer and wine are also available for purchase at The Lake House. Costumes are strongly encouraged! Arrive early for games and activities.
