The Swan Painter is a performance art and theater piece starring local talent to bring this Japanese-based story to life for the broader Houston Community.
The story centers around a painter struggling to find the meaning of true beauty who goes on a journey to find the real reason to create as an artist. Movements, live music, lighting and costume design all come together in this piece to provide a one-of-a-kind experience.
As the narrative spins through the fountains of Discovery Green, the audience will be left with beautiful moments, captivating imagery and perhaps a bit of introspection about what beauty they want to pursue in their own lives.

Gateway Fountain
This fanciful fountain is one of the most popular features in Discovery Green, and indeed, the entire city. During Houston’s hot summer months, hundreds of children play daily in this perennial favorite “cool spot.” Lively jets create a joyful water park atop a gently sloping granite surface, with 14-foot high arcing jets.
Fountain hours: Open on Monday – Sunday from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Please note that the fountain is turned off if there is thunder or lightning.
