Houstonian’s beat the heat with Salsa Dancing, Gardening Classes, Rocket Dog and more

WHAT:            Every Thursday this July and August Houstonians are invited to enjoy Park After Dark from 7 pm – 10 pm. With new lighting installed at Discovery Green the evening hours are the perfect time to beat the heat.

Visitors can enjoy the Gateway Fountains until 10 pm, visit special food trucks including Burger Joint and Pop Life Popcorn and vendors like FurrEver Doggie and Charmify while learning to dance salsa, bachata, merengue and more with Strictly Street Salsa dance classes.

Free gardening classes will be offered by La Lydia Garden Boutique from 8 – 9 pm every Thursday in July. Classes will include Park & Home, Small Space Gardening, Plant Care 101, and Eco Gardening.

Rocket Dog, an “art cart” built by legendary art car artist, Rebecca Bass, will be on-site and filled with lawn games such as bocce ball, horseshoes, and more for patrons to borrow while visiting the park.
